A man has been jailed for his part in a violent assault in Guisborough earlier this year.
A local man sustained serious head injuries causing a bleed to the brain and damage to his skull in the incident on 24th March, when he was the victim of a sudden and unprovoked attack in the street by a group of men which included Callum Hunter.
Enquiries quickly determined that the victim, who is in his 40s, had managed to make his way to a private address to seek help having actually been assaulted in the town’s Northgate.
Hunter was arrested in connection with the incident, initially denying his involvement however he later pleaded guilty to causing grievous bodily harm with intent.
On Friday at Teesside Crown Court, Mr Hunter, of no fixed abode, was jailed for 9 years and 10 months for section 18 grievous bodily harm.
Mr Hunter will also serve 4 years on extended licence, and he’s subject to a restraining order forbidding him from contacting the victim.
Police investigating a burglary at a chemist in Guisborough are warning members of the public that the consumption of the items stolen can be extremely dangerous.
A large quantity of Pregabalin tablets were stolen during the incident which happened at 11.45pm on Friday at the Boots store on Rectory Lane, when a man in black clothing and wearing a black mask has forced entry to the store.
This drug should only be taken by those who have been prescribed it by a medical professional and officers are warning members of the public not to take this if offered it and report any information which could be connected to this incident to the police on the non-emergency number.
Freemasons from Zetland Lodge in Guisborough have made donations to local organisations at their annual Charity Evening.
The event took place at the Freemasons Hall on Chaloner Street on Saturday, with 8 local charities and organisations being presented with cheques.
